Cadaques

We left Barcelona after having visited some nice places, like Ramblas.
Alain and Florence who came aboard in Valencia had to leave unforseen,
but it has been fun having them aboard.
Now we have visited Cadaques, the home town of Dali, very nice anchorage
where I probably did my last snorkeling for this season.
We are heading for Port Argeles, where lives JM sister and her husband,
then we will go see Port Leucate, which I want to see,
then move on to Port st.Louis where we hope to be put on the dry.
Then this voyage will end, unfortunately, but will recommence hopefully soon,
Untill then, Hasta Luego, Ro8

Barcelona!

So yes, we are now in Barcelona where we are going to sightsee a couple of days.
The first night we went to see the Sagrada Familia which has changed quite a bit since the last time I was here!
I can remember that in those days the church was surrounded by tiny old streets, now there is a park and big buildings
with terraces everywhere, run by oriental people!!

Arrival Valencia

Departure with nice wind, stayed the night near Santa Pola where there is a small Island, I never knew, so had a swim!
Next section towards Alicante and Valencia we caught several mackrel an a dorade, which is rare in the med!
We got similar problems with the other engine so we are going to buy another of those relais to see if that is the problem.
The watches went smooth and I had cooked a great potato and chorizo mix, very healthy stuff, and,, tasty, JM had seconds!!9.4 Nm with 2 reefs !!!
When she goes, she goes, even with the short waves.         Our neighbour in Marina Real, Valencia.

Another day gone by

We found the starter problem with the help of a friendly
mechanic, I had seen a simple relais which I thought had nothing
to do with the starter !?!
But he, we learn every day, and it was fixed in NO'-time at all .
Lucky us, just another day gone by, with yet another issue!
Wind is picking up suddenly, but we are staying in tonight, In need for sleep
We left Almeria earlier then planned as we wanted to visit the beach a bit north of
Cabo the Gato, we anchored up but had forgotten to take in the
fishing line, which of course had wrapped itself around the prop!
Now this happened to be the new line JM had bought in the Azores specially
to catch a big espadon, which we didn't catch !!
But the line turned out to be very strong indeed, it took me ONE hour
to get it out of the prop!!
So we had  a night journey to Aguila which was tiring, but more special is that
when we found and moored in the marina the starboard engine didn't want to
start NO-more, ie; this engine had the saildrive just repaired in La Linea !!!
Not that I want to blame anybody immediately, but still ??
So I have spent most of  this beautifull morning in and out of the engine room,
which is so small I need a mirror to see the starter motor.
Still not found the problem so I am going back to that,
more later,,,,

She don't look big from above , but it is a long way up, luckily with the help of the anchorwinch
the second time went faster!

 MALUBEMAE again in the water,,,
So we are on our way to Almeria, first stop,
Started of with nice wind then had to start the engines,
We found out that at the bottom of the furler, the rivets had broken
which had caused the top to slide out!!, now repaired with rivets from
another Fountain Pajot that came from South Ameriva, thanks.
We are nearly in Almeria and phoned in to see if there was a spot
for us,,,, 12MX6,5M is not small,,

Today I wrote to you all about this blog, so hello everybody
also I went up in the mast to repair the genua furler, unfortunately I was not able to

Then I will take pictures from above as well, soon to follow,
because our 3G stick is working, yahoo

Yesterday we happened to be in one of the most reknowed tapasbars of the area
la Bodeguiyto, in Calle Carboneros, the same street as our hotel, hotel Carlos
and both are very worth while,,
The mechanic came, had less work then he thought, and we was put back in the water,
unfortunately the other engine did not have sea-watercooling, so we have to check that.
Because we were not sure to be put in the water we are still in hotel Carlos
which allows me another hot shower!
Those tapas were really nice, thank you bodeguiyto!

Another unfortunate day;
Got up early to start our repairs, to find out that
the boatyard is completly closed down on a sunday !!
So I am waisting the day with cervezas y tapas.
Our mechanic is supposed to come tomorrow but with all these
mishaps,,, that could go wrong as well,,,
Let's try at least to stay positive, the sun is shining and my swimming trunks
are on the boat.!

                                                          Malubemae in Bremuda,
600 and something km's to Marseille, flight to Malaga, not helpfull taxis at the airport
and to the same Feelhostel as when we flew to Marseille, this time less funny because they
stole some of our money 'while we were asleep' but it was too little to go to the police for!
So we arrived in La Linea de la Conception, found another hotel, because we cannot sleep
on the boat while on the dry!!
Spoke to a mechanic who is going to do the repair on the saildrive, monday he said,
but we have no confirmation yet, and today is saturday.
I went to Gibraltar but did not go far as it is a madhouse of shoppers, so at 3 I was back
at the boat to start cleaning. On the dock they sand and paint boats, well our white cata
had turned blue and it took me 4 hours to get it reasonably clean!
Tomorrow we will start our own jobs, repair pate d'oie, genua furler, entry saltwater,
lots of little chores some important, some less.
At the moment the wind is against us, but that will change soon
check the weather here; http://passageweather.com/

I am now back in Montignac, and if I did not feel at home in Rotterdam, it feels the same here!
Lots has changed during my last voyage (with Malubemae visiting Cuba and more)
and lots has changed in my house, as well, which needs getting used to.
My street has been opened up to renew waterpipes, that must have changed the waterpressure
and I can't get hot water! The market square has new terraces and a fountain, and thus less parking area!
I still need to do a lot of paperwork and by the time that is done I will be
flying to Gibraltar!

My visit to Rotterdam is coming to an end,
The Colin Archer I had been looking at was sold! Maybe a sign that it was not for me.
Anyway, still lots to arrange here, and for the last leg, Gibraltar-Marseille, starting 27/8.
